
Earlier today, the Kwara State Delegation, led by the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Elder Kayode Alabi, came together with several other cabinet members to pay their respects to the family of the late Chief Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo. This solemn event took place at the Tunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin, where the body of the elder statesman was receivedbefire proceeding to the deceased house in Ilorin.
The remains of Chief Adebayo arrived at the airport promptly at 9:30 am, accompanied by his children, who followed closely behind as the delegation escorted the casket to the late former governor residence located in GRA neighborhood of Ilorin. It was an emotional moment, filled with emotions as family members and officials united in remembrance of a man who profoundly impacted their lives.
Following a brief departure from the airport, the delegation, along with a host of dignitaries, gathered at the 1st ECWA Church in Taiwo, Ilorin, for the final rites of Chief Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo. The atmosphere was charged with both sorrow and celebration as attendees paid tribute to his life and legacy. Former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, delivered heartfelt remarks, honoring Chief Adebayo’s invaluable contributions to the nation. He characterized the late sage as an essential pillar in the democratic journey Nigeria currently enjoys, emphasizing that his wisdom and guidance will be greatly missed.
Throughout the ceremony, clerics led prayers and expressed gratitude for the life of C.O. Adebayo, celebrating his contributions while also praying for his eternal rest. It was a fitting farewell for a man who played a vital role in shaping the future of his community and country.
Chief Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo is survived by his children and grandchildren, who carry forward his legacy and ideals. His passing is a loss felt by many, marking the end of an era for those who knew and respected him.
