The 1996 set of Banking and Finance Department Alumni, Kwara State Polytechnic, has made a significant investment in the future of finance with the donation of a cutting-edge banking studio to the Department.
The studio which was named after the pioneer Head of Department, Mr. Issa Shuaibu was officially unveiled in a ceremony attended by the Management of the Polytechnic, Protem Executives of Kwarapoly World Wide Alumni Association, children of late Baba Shuaibu, former staff, as well as staff and students of the department.
Speaking before commissioning the edifice, the Rector, Engr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed disclosed that the studio Which is a replica of a real-world banking environment, will provide students with hands-on experience in banking operations, risk management, and financial analysis.
He lauded the efforts of the 96 set of Banking and Finance Department and their initiative to name the edifice after the late Baba Shuaibu who was the longest serving Head of Banking and Finance Department.
He urged other staff of the institution to emulate the discipline, morals, dedication and truthfulness of late Shuaibu which earned him the recognition from his former students.In his remarks, a member of the 1996 set of the alumni, Mr. Owokunle Waheed appreciate the management for their support, stressing that they pledge to do more in order to give back to the institution that made them.
He urged other Alumni of the Polytechnic to emulate them by supporting the institution to achieve its mission and vision.
In his message at the occasion, the Protem President of the Polytechnic Alumni, Engr. Abu Salami lauded the 96 set of the alumni for their benevolent act which culminated in the impressive edifice.He urged the students to make judicious use of the studio to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Also speaking, a former staff of the department, Prof. Adeoti, from University of Ilorin, commended the Rector for changing the narratives in the institution, stressing that his accomplishments are a testament to his talent, passion, and commitment to excellence. He added that Engr. Abdul has set a high standard for himself and others, and his achievements have clearly shown that leadership is by performance.
Responding on behalf of the family, one of the sons of the late Baba Shuaibu, Mr. Kamil Shuaibu expressed happiness for successful completion of the project and thanked the 96 set of Banking and Finance Department for immortalising their late father by naming the edifice after him.
Other speakers at the occasion are the current Head of Department, Director of the Institute, President , Banking and Finance Students and the most senior staff from the department, Mr. Adewoye Adegboyega.
