
The Executive Council of Ifelodun Local Government Area has organized a special prayer to commemorate its one year in office. The program, held at Idofian Town Hall, Idofian, brought together dignitaries, community leaders, and stakeholders across the local government.
Among the dignitaries present were Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kwara State, Hon. AGF Salaudeen, Member representing Omupo Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, the Elese of Igbaja, the Olupako of Share, and several other traditional rulers within Ifelodun LGA.
In his address, the Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State for his swift and continuous interventions in security matters, both within the LGA and across the state. He urged stakeholders to intensify prayers for peace, especially in times of insecurity, while emphasizing the need to put politics aside in the collective interest of the people.
Highlighting achievements within the past year, Hon. Femi Yusuf reeled out several developmental projects executed across the 18 wards of the local government. These include road construction, healthcare facility upgrades, provision of boreholes to numerous communities, and the reconstruction of selected schools.
“I am happy to say that we have touched all the 18 wards with projects that have improved lives, enhanced security, and strengthened our infrastructure,” he stated.
On security, the Chairman disclosed that the council procured 20 motorcycles, employed and trained 100 forest guards, enrolled them into the state health insurance scheme, and equipped them with bulletproof vests and other modern security gadgets.
The council also introduced the Ifelodun Road Traffic Marshals (IRTM), a homegrown initiative aimed at preventing road accidents while simultaneously creating employment opportunities for the people of the local government.
The event was rounded off with prayers for peace, development, and continued progress of Ifelodun Local Government and Kwara State at large.
