Effan Community in Lafiagi Emirate of Edu LG,Kwara State came under attack late Tuesday night when a group of armed bandits invaded the area, disrupting the peace of residents.

According to local sources, the attackers were confronted by community security personnel and youth volunteers, who quickly mobilized to defend their community. During the exchange, one of the bandits was neutralized, while two members of the local security team sustained injuries.

One of the injured victims is currently receiving treatment, while the second, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, is also undergoing medical care. During this documentary exercise, personnel from Azcaf Surprise Documentary Ltd supported the victims with medications to aid their treatment and recovery.

In response to the incident, the Nigerian Army, local vigilantes, and community security operatives have intensified operations to track down the remaining bandits. Security forces are currently combing the surrounding bushes following intelligence reports that some of the attackers may still be hiding nearby.

To restore calm and rebuild confidence, additional military personnel have been deployed to the Emirate, bringing relative peace back to the affected area.

Meanwhile, there have been renewed calls for greater government support to strengthen the capacity of local vigilantes and community-based security outfits, who continue to serve as the first line of defense in rural areas.
