The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the renewed wave of school attacks and student abductions in the country, calling for the immediate sack of the Commandant-General of the NSCDC and the Inspector General of Police.

In a statement by its National President, Comrade Olushola Oladoja, NANS described the recent kidnappings in Kebbi and Niger States as further proof of Nigeria’s collapsing security architecture. Oladoja expressed concern over the Kebbi attack, which occurred shortly after military personnel reportedly withdrew from the area, a development the state governor also questioned.

He warned that the Safe School Initiative has failed despite massive funding, leaving students vulnerable across the nation.

NANS demanded a high-level investigation into possible internal sabotage, intelligence lapses, and recurring withdrawals of security forces before attacks. The association issued a 14-day ultimatum to the federal government to rescue all abducted students, restructure the Safe School Initiative, and present a credible plan for securing schools nationwide.

Failure to meet these demands, NANS said, will lead to nationwide civil disobedience, including highway and airport shutdowns.

NANS stands firm that students’ lives are non-negotiable and must be protected.
