Youth Rights Campaign Demands International Sanctions, Global Watchlist For Tinubu’s Security Adviser, Ribadu Over Detention Of #EndBadGovernance Protesters.
A civic organisation under the umbrella of Youth Rights Campaign (YRC) has called for international sanctions against Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA) to President Bola Tinubu, over his role in abduction and continuous detention of its National Coordinator, Michael Adaramoye, popularly known as Michael Lenin, and other #EndBadGovernance protesters.
The organisation also asked international community to place Ribadu on global watchlist for the unlawful detention of Lenin, Mosiu Sodiq, Eleojo Opaluwa, Angel Innocent, Abiodun Abayomi; a blogger and undercover journalist, Isaac Bristol, known popularly as @PIDOMNigeria, and other journalists across the country.
The YRC’s call was made by its National Secretary, Francis Nwapa on Friday as Lenin and other detained #EndBadGovernance protesters arrested on August 5 in their homes by security operatives during the recent 10-day nationwide protests against hunger, hardship and bad governance, spend 26 days in detention.
Nwapa said, “We call for international sanctions against Mr. @NuhuRibadu, NSA to President @officialABAT & for him to be placed on Global Watchlist for his role in the Abduction & continuous incarceration of comrade Michael Adaramoye Lenin, Mosiu Sodiq, Eleojo Opaluwa, Angel Innocent, Abiodun Abayomi, PIDOMNigeria among a number of journalists for their role during the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Protest.
“On the Order of Mr. Ribadu, over 40 protesters were killed and over 2000 still in detention for demanding Good Governance in Nigeria.”
Confidencenewsng earlier reported that YRC had called on President Tinubu to stop his ‘nascent civilian dictatorship and clampdown on democratic rights’.
Nwapa explained that the ex parte order granted by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for further detention of people linked to the protetss for 60 days is nothing but a mockery of the judiciary and rule of law.
