In what seems to be an unfolding tragedy, a Siena bus traveling from Abuja to Offa was hijacked by kidnappers around 2 PM yesterday, according to report obtained by Confidence News Nigeria. The bus, which is operated by Olumoh Express, a well-known transportation company based in Offa, was carrying at least five passengers at the time of the incident.
The journey commenced yesterday morning, but due to a lack of travelers, the driver was only able to pick up four passengers at the Abuja park instead of the usual seven. However, he managed to add a co-driver along the route, bringing the total number of passengers to five. It remains uncertain whether the driver collected two additional passengers along the expressway before the unfortunate events unfolded. Authorities have been notified of the situation, with reports made to the Osi police station, as the incident occurred on the Osi-Obbo Ayegunle expressway. Officials have also informed the Offa area command of the incident. As of this morning, both the driver’s and the passengers’ fates remain unknown, Olumoh Express Customer Relations Officer told this reporter
“I spoke with my uncle just moments before the tragedy struck,” Abdumalik recalled with a tremble in his voice. “I was tracking his journey, but by 3 PM, his phone went silent. We’ve been waiting in Osi since yesterday, but there’s still no sign of him or the other passengers.”
Mr. Mustapha, another anxious family member, expressed his desperation: “My wife and two kids were on that bus. I had spoken to them earlier in the morning before heading out for my daily work. It is devastating to hear that the bus they were in has been hijacked by armed kidnappers”
As this report was being compiled, all attempts to contact the Osi police station regarding updates on the situation have unfortunately yielded no results, intensifying the fear and uncertainty surrounding the incident.
