Kwara State Government has begun disbursement for another round of support for some 4000 skilled and unskilled workers in the state, a statement said on Friday.
The beneficiaries who had earlier been physically verified and captured by the Kwara State Social Investment Programmes (KWASSIP) were enjoined to use the grants judiciously to cushion the effect of economic challenges.
Earlier, KWASSIP has supported other categories of citizens including widows, farmers, youths, and entrepreneurs with cash support to strengthen the informal sector and the economy of the state.
“The disbursement of funds for 4000 skilled and unskilled workers has now taken off. We are giving the sum of N50,000 to the beneficiaries,” according to a statement by Ag. General Manager of KWASSIP Dr Abdulwasiu Olayinka Tejidini on Friday.
“It is in line with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s resolve to bring ease to the citizens without bias for political affiliation. The current challenges require solid leadership and the Governor is unrelenting in his efforts to put the state ahead of the curve.
“We have reached over 124,000 households with our programmes in the last few months. This is one of the biggest in Nigeria. It has been crucial to showing empathy, maintaining social stability, and saving petty businesses from folding up in the state.
“We laud the altruistic vision of the Governor and the strong support and understanding of the citizens in staying amenable and united at this time. The administration is working on more initiatives to bring succor to the people and state.”
