The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing, operating under the banner of PDP Youth Frontier, has urged President Bola Tinubu to seek counsel from former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan to address the current challenges facing Nigeria, which they attribute to his policies.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Usman Okai Austin, the group expressed dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s leadership, citing failures in economic recovery efforts.
According to the PDP youth wing, Nigeria is in need of a leader capable of navigating the country towards economic revitalization, a task they believe Tinubu has faltered in. They criticized the pattern of blaming predecessors, noting that similar to former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, Tinubu and his team are resorting to blame games rather than implementing effective solutions.
The group emphasized the importance of experienced leadership, suggesting that Tinubu should seek guidance from Jonathan and Obasanjo. They questioned Tinubu’s purported contributions to Lagos’ development, arguing that his success may be exaggerated, given the state’s inherent advantages.
Furthermore, the PDP youth wing accused the APC leadership of lacking comprehension of Nigeria’s complex challenges. They highlighted the prevalent economic hardships facing Nigerians, including rising dropout rates, inflation, and currency depreciation. The statement criticized the perceived confusion within the administration in addressing economic and security issues.
In conclusion, the group called for accountability from Tinubu, asserting that it’s time for him to acknowledge his administration’s shortcomings instead of deflecting blame.
They expressed skepticism about the APC’s ability to address the country’s pressing issues, stating that Nigerians continue to suffer under its governance.
