•• Bags Chieftaincy title in Oke-Ero

Honourable Peter Gbenga Makanjuola, a former lawmaker representing the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero federal constituency in the House of Representatives, organized an interfaith Thanksgiving ceremony at his residence in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government on Saturday.

The event, which lasted for a couple of hours, was well-attended by personalities from within and outside the community, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, well-wishers, and political associates.

The Chief Imam of Omu-Aran, Alhaji Sodiq Muhammed Afolayan, and Rt. Reverend Festus O. Shobanke, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Omu-Aran, both offered fervent prayers for the former Kwara lawmaker.

Speaking at the Thanksgiving ceremony, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, extolled the virtues of the former lawmaker for his contributions to the development of society.

According to him, “Honourable Makanjuola is one of the illustrious sons of Omu-Aran. He has contributed immensely to the development of this society, and we are here to thank God for him. Our wish is that Almighty God will continue to take him to higher places.”

Earlier in his remarks, Hon. Gbenga Makanjuola noted that the Thanksgiving ceremony was a fulfillment of his pledge to God.He said, “I have experienced tortuous moments over the past eight years, and this event represents the fulfillment of my promise to Almighty God that I will return all glory and adoration to Him for redeeming my life against all challenges.”

Speaking about his political career, the former Deputy Governor candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general election confirmed his resignation from the party and revealed that he is waiting on God’s guidance to make his next move.

“I’m waiting for God’s guidance to decide my next move politically. He has always been the designer of my destiny, and I am sure He will guide me on the right path,” he said.

Makanjuola Bags Chieftaincy Title in Oke-EroShortly after the Thanksgiving prayer, the former lawmaker attended the 100th birthday celebration and 50th coronation anniversary of Obadofin of Ikotun-Ile, Oba David Ajibola Omope.During the event, he was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Otun-Oba of Ikotun-Ile in Oke-Ero Local Government of Kwara State.

In his reaction, Hon. Makanjuola expressed his profound appreciation to the traditional ruler and community for finding him worthy of the title.He noted that the title will spur him to do more for the Ikotun-Ile community.

“I really appreciate the community for this recognition, which resonates with what Almighty God used me to do for the community in and out of office. Ikotun-Ile is my maternal home, and I will continue to do my best for the community,” he said.
