In an important legal proceeding, the Court of Competence Jurisdiction is set to convene tomorrow to adjudicate a case brought forward by Hon. Salahudeen Lukman, the candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded local government election in Offa Local Government Area. Hon. Lukman has challenged the election results that declared Hon. Suleiman Olatunji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner. This hearing will address allegations regarding the conduct of the election and the validity of the results, which are critical for upholding the democratic process in the region. The outcome of this case could have significant implications for the political landscape in Offa LG.
This medium had earlier published that the PDP candidate dragged Omituntun, Apc, and KWSIEC to court, citing irregularities in the just-concluded election.
In the document, Hon. Lukman fervently requests that the court take decisive action to remove Hon. Suleiman Olatunji from his position as the chairman of the local government. He contends that the election that purportedly led to Olatunji’s ascendancy to this role did not actually take place, raising serious questions about the legitimacy of his tenure.
The tribunal will begin the hearing tomorrow 25 November 2024.
