The Osun State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Tosin Odeyemi, has challenged the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, to test his popularity in Kano, asserting that the APC will not reclaim the state.

Odeyemi’s remarks came in response to Ganduje’s recent statement in which he described the NNPP as a “dying party” in Kano State.

In a release obtained on Thursday, the NNPP chieftain dismissed Ganduje’s claim, insisting that Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration had earned the trust of the people through impactful governance.

“I know many people who understand the political reality in Kano will laugh at Dr. Ganduje’s statement. Many factors could have contributed to his miscalculation, so I won’t blame him much. But we need to let him know that Kano State has evolved,” Odeyemi stated.

He ridiculed Ganduje’s assertion that many NNPP bigwigs were set to defect to the APC simply because the former governor oversaw the distribution of 63 vehicles and 1,137 motorcycles to party officials at the local government and ward levels.

“How can someone who is far from his state boast about reclaiming Kano? The masses are firmly behind our performing Governor, Abba Yusuf, who is working tirelessly to improve their lives in all aspects,” he added.

Odeyemi then challenged Ganduje to hold a street rally in Kano to gauge his popularity, insisting that the NNPP has set a new standard of governance in the state.

“Our party has transformed Kano. We have shown the people what it means to serve, not to feed fat on their collective wealth,” he said.

He further urged Ganduje to stop relying on misleading reports from his aides, warning that inaccurate assessments of Kano’s political climate could lead to further misjudgments.
