Kwara State environment safety is in your hands, national presidents tells inductee
The Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) has inducted new members in Kwara State, marking the official launch of its new branch in the state. The induction ceremony, held on 28th August 2024 in sided the premises of Lower Niger River Basin, Ilorin, welcomed a diverse group of environmental professionals, students, and enthusiasts into the NES fold.
The new branch, chaired by Dr. Ibrahim Olarenwaju Ibrahim, aims to promote environmental sustainability, awareness, and education in Kwara State. The NES Kwara branch will focus on addressing local environmental challenges, such as pollution, deforestation, and climate change, through community engagement, research, and advocacy.
The induction ceremony featured keynote addresses from renowned environmental experts, including the National Chairman of the NES, DR. EFEGBIDIKI OKOBIA, who emphasized the importance of collective action in protecting the environment.
NES National President, Dr. Okobia, congratulated the new members and branch, stating, “The launch of the NES Kwara branch marks a significant milestone in our mission to promote environmental stewardship nationwide. We look forward to collaborating with the Kwara State government, stakeholders, and communities to drive positive environmental change.”
The NES Kwara branch has already outlined its plans, including:
1. Organizing environmental awareness campaigns and workshops
2. Conducting research on local environmental issues
3. Collaborating with stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions
4. Providing training and capacity-building programs for members
In his remarks, the Kwara State NES chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Olarenwaju Taiwo assured the national leadership of the association of his commitment and readiness to make Kwara a safe place for everyone, he encouraged his team members to support him toward a safer Kwara.

With the launch of the NES Kwara branch, the society has expanded its reach, bringing together like-minded individuals to drive environmental progress in Nigeria.
