The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Command has secured the conviction of two notorious drug offenders and reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law and zero tolerance for corruption.

Under the leadership of CN A.I. Ahmad, the NDLEA Kano State Command has achieved significant milestones in its relentless fight against drug-related offenses.

According to Ahmad, “The Agency secured multiple convictions in one day, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.”

He disclosed that Ibrahim Tahir, a 25-year-old male, was convicted on three separate counts related to drug offenses, with each count carrying a three-year sentence to be served consecutively, totaling nine years in prison.

Meanwhile, James Temitope Ajayi, a 40-year-old male, an ex-convict and notorious distributor of Cannabis Sativa (CS), was convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison for trafficking illicit substances.

He added, “Temitope’s conviction is particularly significant, given his history of trafficking and distributing illicit substances across regional lines.”

This information was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA Kano State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, a copy of which was made available to the press in Kano on Thursday.

The statement indicated that the NDLEA’s efforts have disrupted a major supply chain, preventing further harm to communities.

Furthermore, Adekunle Sunday Adebayo, 40, and Yahaya Mamuda, 35, were convicted and sentenced to six years each for drug-related offenses. Notably, all convictions were without the option of a fine, sending a strong warning to drug offenders that the full weight of the law will be brought to bear on them.

These convictions occurred within the short tenure of Hon. Justice M.S. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court – Court One, sitting in Kano, showcasing his unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and combating drug-related offenses.
