On Saturday Night, a most distasteful and ill-thought statement was credited to Mr. Akeem Nurudeen Olayinka Akmat, who recently wandered into the progressive fold from the now wrecked political contraption called the PDP, in a desperate attempt to remain politically afloat.
Ordinarily, one would have shuddered off his tirade as the attention-seeking wail of a Sycophant but for the need to correct the deliberate falsehood and mischief embedded in his intellectually-bereft baseless attack on Distinguished Senator Makanjuola Suleiman Ajadi, a foremost leader and statesman whose contributions to the growth of Ifelodun Local Government and Kwara State remain unquestionable.
It is laughable, if not pitiable , that Mr. Akmat, who serves as the SA Tax and Revenue to the Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, could so cheaply descend into the pit of ignorance, malevolence and unprovoked insolence, all in the name of scoring political points. His attempt to politicize the unfortunate insecurity challenges currently affecting our dear Local Government only exposes his intellectual deficiency and moral bankruptcy.
For clarity and those who must have missed it, Senator Makanjuola Ajadi’s statement was a patriotic expression of concern and a call for collective vigilance across border communities whose shared security realities transcend local administrative boundaries. Only a mind too shallow to comprehend context could misread that as a diversion or lack of empathy.
On the flipside, it could be seen that the angry outburst of Mr. Akmat is his innate hatred for Senator Ajadi and a reflection on his co-travellers. The mere understanding that Senator Ajadi seems to be attuned to current realities as they must have been so malevolent in thoughts against the septugenarian, sent shivers down their spine and shot their Blood Pressure to an alarming state.
If Mr. Akmat or his co-travellers had taken time to digest the import of the Distinguished Senator’s message, they would have refrained from publicly embarrassing themselves, How disgustingly shameful.
It is, therefore, most unbecoming for such a political lightweight to attempt to lecture a man whose track record in governance, public service, and community service predates his own awareness of grassroots politics.
This reckless and embarrassing outburst calls into question not only Mr. Olayinka’s moral engagement and political discipline, but also the credibility of the Ifelodun Progressives Likemind group he purports to lead. If its supposed leader could descend to such lowly and dishonourable conduct against a revered leader of the progressive family, then the group must urgently redefine its values or risk being written off as a gathering of the politically immature.
Let it be known, and clearly so, that Senator Makanjuola Suleiman Ajadi remains a towering figure in Kwara politics, one that is far beyond Akmat’s imaginations. A man whose contributions to governance, party development, Community service and human capital empowerment are well-documented and widely acknowledged. No amount of cheap propaganda or sponsored tantrums will dent his legacy.
Finally, For Mr. Akmat, you should find wisdom in silence, for you risk drowning in the same pool of irrelevance you are desperately trying to evade.
