The LEAH Foundation, a prominent non-governmental organization based in Kwara, has been a dedicated advocate in the fight against cancer for more than ten years. In a concerted effort with key stakeholders and respected community leaders, the foundation recently organized a comprehensive prostate cancer screening event that benefited over 500 men in the township of Offa. This impactful event took place on February 11, 2025, and marked a significant milestone in promoting health awareness and early detection within the community. The Founder of the Foundation and immediate past First Lady of Kwara State, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed while speaking to pressmen during the event emphasized the needs for regular test in order to cub early detection “We run a SHE concept program at LEAH Foundation, S- Social Welfare, H- Health, E- Education, we are here today basically because of our cancer awareness program which we began since 2012 while I was still the first lady of Kwara state, we have done a lot of advocacy especially in the areas of breast and cervical cancer, when we started, people felt stigmatized hence they kept cancer to themselves, but with the help of our advocacy and enlightenment, we have been able to change the narratives” Omolewa said.

She continue “We were able to create 28 screening centres across Kwara woth the support of the govt, it was a vision laced with reality, we don’t just talk to people about it, we screened people, she concluded.

The event had in attendance the Olofa in council, market leaders, experts, doctors and major stakeholders, there was cultural interlude to entertain the attendees.
