The House of Representatives member for Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency, Moshood Oshun, at the weekend, distributed food packs to 8,500 residents of his constituency.

The beneficiaries, who are persons of varied age groups, it was learnt, were vulnerable households in Lagos Mainland drawn from community development associations, artisans, schools and religious groups.

Each of the 8,500 beneficiaries got a food pack with rice, semovita, spaghetti, garri, noodles, sugar and salt.

Oshun said the distribution of the food packs was a directive of the Presidency to lawmakers and it was in fulfillment of the directive that the distribution was taking place with the assistance of the Federal Government through the ministry of agriculture.

He added, “It’s just a way by which the government is trying to ameliorate the suffering of the people. You know things are a bit difficult in the country at the moment, so we are just trying to assist the people.

“We are reaching out to 8,500 people. Well, for those that were able to get their package today, I will say congratulations to them but for those who couldn’t get any, in another few months, I will see what I can do to assist my people. One thing that is certain is the fact that I will always be there for them. I will make sure I’m available to assist them in whatever form I can.”

The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Adeyemi Kayode, commended the lawmaker for following through with the directive of the president.
