
The naming ceremony of the son of Hon. Razaq Owolabi, member representing Share/Oke-Ode Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, was a grand and colorful event held on Saturday, January 18, 2024, at the Arch Santa Arena, Ilorin.
The ceremony attracted an array of dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Kayode Alabi; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi; traditional rulers, commissioners, lawmakers, political stalwarts, and business moguls.
Hon. Owolabi and his wife, Asabe, named their son Mohammed Olatunbosun, Dantala, and Sabi, in adherence to Islamic traditions. The event featured prayers led by Sheikh Habeeb L’agbaji and other Islamic clerics, who prayed for the newborn and his parents.
In his sermon, Sheikh Habeeb emphasized the importance of raising children in accordance with Islamic principles, urging parents to provide sound moral and religious training. He highlighted that proper home upbringing helps children become responsible citizens who contribute positively to society.
“We are experiencing the impact of this government because Hon. Razaq Owolabi is representing his people effectively. I encourage others to emulate his dedication to the governor’s vision,” Sheikh Habeeb remarked.
The ceremony was further enlivened by various activities, including competitions among guests from Ifelodun, Offa, and Oyun Local Government Areas. Hon. Owolabi also demonstrated his commitment to inclusivity by presenting gifts to people living with disabilities (PLWDs) in his constituency.
The event featured electrifying performances by popular Fuji musician Taye Currency, who entertained the guests alongside other well-wishers.
Among the prominent attendees were Prof. Wale Sulaiman, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Ila-Orangun; a representative of Senator Saliu Mustapha; Hajia Kperogi, former Clerk of the Kwara State House of Assembly; Olasumbo Florence, former Kwara State Commissioner for Finance; members of Senator Ashiru’s support group, and other notable personalities.
The occasion was a memorable celebration of love, community, and tradition, drawing family, friends, and well-wishers from across the country.
