Dr. Adetola Ariyike Salau, the Special Adviser on Education to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, has distributed notebooks to primary and junior secondary schools in Omupo, Ifelodun local government area.

The event, held on Friday, is part of a larger initiative to enhance educational resources across the state.

The notebooks were provided through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), spearheaded by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The initiative’s materials were initially distributed in late April and subsequently handed over to Dr. Salau by the First Lady of Kwara State, Her Excellency Ambassador Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq. The Ministry of Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) facilitated the local distribution.

The beneficiary schools in Omupo included:

  1. St. Michael Primary School
  2. Muslim Community Primary School
  3. Omupo Anglican Grammar School (OAGS) JSS Section
  4. Omupo Muslim College (OMC)

Representatives receiving the notebooks on behalf of their schools were:

  • Mrs. Adeoye Abosede Opeyemi, Principal of St. Michael Primary School
  • Mrs. Ojulari Salimat Omowumi, Headmistress of Muslim Community Primary School
  • Mrs. Olaitan Florence Titilayo, Principal of OAGS
  • Agbabiaka Taye Fatahi, Vice Principal of Omupo Muslim College

Community leaders praised the initiative. Alabi Yekini, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Omupo Ward, expressed gratitude to Dr. Salau for her efforts in enhancing educational resources. Similarly, Imam Abdulwahab Adesina, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association/School-Based Management Committee (PTA/SBMC), commended the distribution as a significant contribution to local education.

In addition to the distribution event, Dr. Salau paid a visit to the Olomu of Omupo, His Royal Highness Oba Alh. Yakubu Adebayo Buari, at his private residence. The visit underscored the government’s commitment to engaging with community leaders and supporting educational development in the region.

This initiative marks a continuing effort by the Kwara State government to improve educational standards and provide necessary resources to schools, ensuring that students have the tools they need to succeed.
