The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Sunday Stephen Karimi, has called for urgent intervention in providing funds for the rehabilitation of Kabba-Ilorin Road and other neglected roads across the country.

Sen. Karimi made the call when the Senate Appropriation Committee met with the Hon. Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Atiku Bagudu, as well as the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali.

Addressing the Ministers, Sen. Karim expressed great concerns over the dilapidated condition of the Kabba-Ilorin road, which had been abandoned and unrehabilitated for decades.

The Kogi West Senator commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “Renewed Hope Agenda,”  which has since been engaging in programmes and policies that have indeed brought hope to Nigerians.

He further hailed the President’s efforts towards the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coaster road, the Sokoto-Badagry highway, as well as other major highways that are being constructed across the country.

Karimi, however, stressed the need for urgent intervention in providing the necessary funds for the speedy rehabilitation of Kabba-Ilorin Road, Kupa-Abugi Road, as well as other roads that had been long neglected in Kogi and Nigeria at large.

He emphasised that the abandoned Kabba-Ilorin road remained the feeder road for Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, and Lagos States, as well as boosting the economy and well-being of citizens along that axis.

Karimi lamented the feelings and hardships faced by his constituents on those dilapidated roads, which remained a major factor in the economic sustainability and survival of the people of the areas.

The senator therefore charged the Hon. Minister of Transportation, Hon. Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, and his counterparts in the Budget Ministry, Sen. Bagudu, to consider alternative sources of funding for the Kabba-Ilorin road and several other roads across the country that had either been neglected or abandoned for long.
