The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, was on Monday installed as the Asiwaju of Ede Land.

The star-studded event was witnessed by the governors of Ogun, Oyo, and Lagos states; first-class monarchs; business moguls; and other dignitaries from various walks of life from within and outside the state.

Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal, the governor’s hometown traditional ruler, conferred the honour on Adeleke.

The governor succeeded his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who held the position until his death in April 2017.

Meanwhile, an X user, #DukeofOsun, posted a video from the installation ceremony on Monday.

The caption on the video read, “Behold the new Asiwaju of Edeland, H.E. Sen. Dr. Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke.”

The rites continued with the Ife monarch praying for the governor.

In a separate report, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, stated that the decision to confer the Asiwaju title on Adeleke is an acknowledgement and recognition of his contribution to the growth and development of Ede and Osun State at large.

Similarly, the Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party also lauded the Timi.

This is as the party described the title bestowed upon Adeleke as the best birthday gift.

Adeleke, born in 1960, marks his 64th birthday anniversary today.
