One-Week Screening and Training Exercise Runs from January 25 to 31, 2025; Registration Link Now Open

The newly established FIBMAL Football Academy, based in Buari, Irepodu Local Government Area of Kwara State, has announced a one-week screening exercise for aspiring and talented footballers. The screening is set to commence on Saturday, January 25, 2025, and will run until Friday, January 31, 2025, providing an opportunity for players aged 11 to 18 to showcase their skills.

The Chief Executive Officer of the academy, Professor Afonja Ibrahim, explained that his passion for youth development and the abundance of untapped football talent in Nigeria inspired him to establish the academy. He emphasized that the initiative is aimed at complementing the efforts of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), the Executive Governor of Kwara State, in driving sports development across the state.

“I discovered that there are so many football talents in this country, but opportunities and encouragement are limited. The government cannot shoulder the responsibility alone,” Professor Afonja stated.

He added, “We need to support the government in meaningfully developing our youth to create a better society. As a lover of sports, especially football, this inspired me to establish the academy as a platform for talented youths.”

Professor Afonja highlighted that the training will span the entire one-week screening period, from January 25 to January 31, during which selected players will undergo intensive sessions with qualified coaches.

Professor Afonja, who is also the Proprietor of Adewale Ibrahim College of Health Sciences, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) for creating an enabling environment for youth and sports development. He also appreciated the efforts of the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji, and the State Football Association Chairman, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa, for their encouragement and support.

He assured the public that the academy is fully registered and affiliated with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) through the State Football Association.

Professor Afonja urged young players to seize this opportunity by registering for the screening exercise and participating actively in the training sessions.
