Governor Abdullahi Sule has disclosed that N461 million had been disbursed to each of the 13 Local Councils of Nasarawa State by the Federal Government as a signature bonus.
He announced that the gesture was the first of such for the council areas.
The governor warned the third tier of government against misusing the funds, meant for development initiatives.
“The Federal Government has disbursed the money. Every local government is going to get about N461 million. It is your money. Not one Naira is coming to the state. We are not taking any part of your money,” he said.
Sule promised that his administration would strictly monitor the utilisation of the funds, directing the council chairmen to submit their proposals on the usage of the money and liaise with the relevant permanent secretaries to align with his government’s development agenda.
He charged the council bosses to be prudent and judicious in their spending of the bonus.
The governor also issued a marching order to permanent secretaries to sustain the developmental tempo in the state.
He warned that in the remaining two years, his administration would aggressively pursue its goals, especially in the implementation of the 2025 budget.
The governor said as the engine room of their various ministries, the permanent secretaries were to hit the ground running.
