The senator representing Kwara Central, Saliu Mustapha, has announced the launch of a multi-million naira empowerment scheme targeted at hundreds of residents across the senatorial district.
The initiative, branded T-Cash (an acronym for Turaki Cash) is designed as a direct cash support scheme to boost small-scale enterprises and artisanal income in the constituency.
According to a statement on Monday by Senator Mustapha’s media aide, Nasif Sholagberu, the programme will be implemented in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 16 September, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Sholagberu said the intervention aligns with the lawmaker’s legislative agenda, which prioritises human capital development, and also complements President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda with its focus on poverty reduction, inclusive growth, and economic empowerment for women and youth.
Beneficiaries are expected to be drawn essentially from the four local government areas of Kwara Central.
Since his election in 2023, the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, has rolled out several empowerment initiatives ranging from skills acquisition to direct community support. The T-Cash programme, his aides say, is another step in consolidating those interventions.
