As part of measures to strengthen community policing within Ilorin metropolis, the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has donated a Sienna Bus to Ibagun Ward of Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state.
Receiving the key to the bus, the Chairman of Ibagun Progressive Union, Alhaji Kuranga Omomeji, described the gesture as apt and timely in the history of Ibagun ward, saying that for years, the community had been yearning for vehicles to strengthen community policing, especially in a period such as this that spate of kidnapping was on the rise.
“Historically, it hasn’t happened before in the history of Ibagun ward. Senator Saliu Mustapha will be the first person to donate vehicle to the community for security purpose. It shows how committed he is to the security of lives and property of the people. The Ibagun ward will always support him with prayers”, Omomeji said.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Community Policing in Ibagun ward, Alhaji Isiaka Ewenje, said the community security operatives in the ward had been empowered with the donation of the vehicle, which he said, would go a long way to nip crimes and criminality in the bud.
A Community leader in Ibagun ward, Alhaji AbdulRaheem Olesin, expressed gratitude to Senator Mustapha for fulfilling the promise made during his electioneering, saying that the vehicle would enhance the movement of community security operatives in the ward.

While thanking a Chieftain of APC in the ward, Alhaji Tajudeen Olesin, for facilitating the vehicle from Turaki of Ilorin, he reminded the Senator of other requests made during the electioneering, which included establishment of Computer Village in the ward and facilitation of employment opportunities for sons and daughters of Ibagun ward.
Speaking at the event, an aide to Senator Saliu Mustapha, Alhaji AbdulRosheed Bube, said the provision of the vehicle was aimed at strengthening community policing, saying that the constituency office of the legislator had commenced installation of solar-powered street lights across the four local government areas of the senatorial district with Ibagun ward amongst the beneficiaries.
He observed that lighting up of communities would enhance community policing and assured that additional support would be rendered to communities in Kwara Central to improve the social economic activities of their respective areas.
He said, “This gesture is a way of appreciating people of Ibagun ward for their support during the election period. We want to assure them that all the promises made by the senator would be fulfilled.
