President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointments of new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed is appointed as the new Director-General of the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi will assume the role of Director-General of the DSS.
Ambassador Mohammed has had a distinguished career in the foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995. He has held various positions, including Director, and most recently served as the head of the Nigerian mission to Libya. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, he has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.
Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, has advanced through the ranks to his previous role as Assistant Director-General. He has previously served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
These appointments follow the resignation of the former NIA and DSS chiefs. President Tinubu expects the new security chiefs to work diligently to enhance the effectiveness of their respective agencies. He urges them to leverage their experience to address the country’s security challenges through improved collaboration with sister agencies and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The President extends his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wishes them success in their future endeavors.
