Turaki becomes the 1st Agba’akin of Isin Kingdom, Olusin declares
The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has been announced as the 1st Agba’akin of Isin Kingdom. The announcement was made by the Olusin of Isanlu-Isin, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Solomon Oluwagbemiga Oloyede (JP), a first class ruler and Chairman of Isin LGA Traditional Council.
The conferment, which was done in absentia, was announced during the 2024 edition of the Ajokogun Fiesta (Isanlu-Isin Day), which took place at the Baptist Primary School Playground, Isanlu-Isin, Kwara State.
Oba Oloyede described the title as the highest honor in the Isin Kingdom, adding that it carries privileges and influence not just in Isanlu-Isin land but across Isin Local Government Area.
“For those who did not know, Senator Saliu Mustapha is a friend of Isin land. He has contributed without much funfair to the growth and development of this Kingdom. His contributions have not only touched Kwara Central but have also resonated positively across Kwara South,” the Olusin stated.
This is not the first time Senator Mustapha would be conferred with a traditional chieftaincy title outside of his Senatorial District. It will be recalled that on Saturday, November 12, 2023, the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate was announced and coronated as the Maiyegun of Obbo-Aiyegunle by the Owa L’Obbo of Obbo-Aiyegunle, Engr. (Dr.) Samuel Oluleye Adelodun.
The Owa L’Obbo in Council said the conferment was in recognition of Senator Mustapha’s long standing friendly relationship with the community and her sons and daughters from all walks of life.
Also recently, the Oloro of Oro-Ago Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Oba Johnson Olarewaju Dada, alongside his Council of Chiefs, announced the conferment of the chieftaincy title of Aree Atunluṣe of Oro-Ago Kingdom on the Senator at an elaborate ceremony.
The Ajokogun Fiesta, an annual celebration of the cultural heritage and unity of the Isin people, served as the backdrop for the announcement. The event attracted a diverse array of dignitaries, traditional leaders, and residents, who gathered to celebrate the rich traditions of the Isin Kingdom.
The conferment of the Agba’akin title places Senator Mustapha among the most respected figures in the kingdom, reflecting his role as a unifying figure and his efforts in fostering development across various communities.
